EA To Abandon DIRT, the Game Could End up Where Project CARS Did

Electronic Arts is no longer going to develop the Project CARS brand, but reportedly that’s not the only IP that has ended up in a drawer and may never return. The developer and publisher is also said to have dropped the DIRT series.

As of yesterday, Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that they will not be developing the Project CARS brand any longer.

While the company did not mention Project CARS 4, evidently the game has been canceled and the completed elements will be used for another item.

The measures were further criticized by the founder of Slightly Mad Studios, which was determined to draw talent from Electronic Arts with Ian Bell now developing new races.

Tom Henderson also commented on EA’s actions, who thinks that Project CARS is in fact one of the two IPs that Electronic Arts has abandoned.

The insider at Insider Gaming has mentioned that Codemasters is now expected to develop three brands (F1, GRID, WRC) and DIRT has also been discontinued.

What’s hard to say is why EA decided not to comment on the series, but clearly WRC is going to take DIRT’s place, and probably GRID and Need for Speed are to be developed instead of the Project CARS series.
