M3GAN Finally Knocks Avatar 2 off the Throne of U.S. Cinemas

Is this the start of a brilliant streak?

M3GAN Finally Knocks Avatar 2 off the Throne of U.S. Cinemas

That day had to come eventually. Following three weeks of uninterrupted domination, US cinemas have found a new king or rather a queen. In its 22nd day since its release, the film Avatar: The Way of Water has, once again, not named the most earning movie among productions released in American theaters.

As reported by Mojo Box Office, the premiere of the film M3GAN took place exactly yesterday. Despite the fact that Gerard Johnstone’s masterpiece won’t be remembered as one of the most profitable films in history, nevertheless it was the item that managed to earn more yesterday than Avatar: The Way of Water.

M3GAN generated $11.7 million on U.S. soil. In contrast, James Cameron’s masterpiece earned yesterday (in U.S. theaters) $11.4 million.

Total M3GAN revenue from worldwide theaters is now $15 million. The new Avatar, in turn, already hit $1.56 billion. It’s possible that Avatar: The Way of Water will jump to the top again tomorrow, but the unbroken streak has just been broken.

“Experience the maestro’s journey through Giuseppe Tornatore’s lens in our Ennio review. Uncover the depth of Ennio Morricone’s impact on film music and how his melodies have become inseparable from cinema’s most iconic moments.”

M3GAN, to be directed by Gerard Johnstone based on a script by Akela Cooper (“Incarnation”) and based on a story by horror master James Wan (“Saw,” “Presence” series) is in theaters from January 13, 2023. The film will feature Allison Williams (“Runaway,” series “Girls”) as Gemma.

Gemma is a brilliant programmer at a toy company. Her new job is to develop a doll using artificial intelligence. And that’s how the doll-M3GAN-will be created.

The lifelike toy will be programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Unexpectedly, Gemma needs to take care of her orphaned niece. He decides to enlist the help of the M3GAN prototype. The decision will bring unimaginable consequences.

The movie will also feature Ronny Chieng (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”). Jason Blum (Halloween, Invisible Man) and James Wan produced the thriller. Michael Clear & Judson Scott are also executive producers.

The other producers are: Ryan Turek of Blumhouse, Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath on behalf of Divide/Conquer, and Mark Katchur and Allison Williams.
