Red Dead Redemption 2 Hits Record Number of Players on Steam

This is despite the absence of updates.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Hits Record Number of Players on Steam

While Red Dead Redemption 2 has no longer been actively developed by Rockstar, this production still enjoys considerable popularity. Suffice to say that it recently broke the record for the number of simultaneous players on Steam.

As Rockstar Intel noted, 69.1 thousands people were on the title last weekend. For comparison, in November last year – when the previous record was set – the figure was 66.5 thousand. even earlier – in 2019 – the figure was 55.3 thousand.

It’s worth mentioning that Steam itself also beat its best results in the same days, in which Red Dead Redemption 2 fans apparently helped. So too did discounts – the Western was recently 67 percent cheaper, in a winter sale.

And while Rockstar stopped releasing significant expansions to Red Dead Online’s online mode as early as the middle of last year, the highly regarded production still has plenty to offer, to mention the excellent (though not very dynamic) story campaign.

Production has not had an easy “life” before. In July last year, gamers held a symbolic funeral for the game to “celebrate” one year since the last major update. The matter resonated, so developers decided to finally speak out.

Openly, Rockstar acknowledged that it was sidelining Red Dead Online and explained its priorities “Over the past few years, we have been gradually shifting development capacity to a new installment of the Grand Theft Auto series,” it wrote on the official site at the time.
