Kelleran Beq’s Return: A Journey through Star Wars Lore

Best made his glorious return to the Star Wars Universe in The Mandalorian’s third season, where he embodied the courageous Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. His pivotal role involved the daring rescue of Grogu during the infamous Order 66, enacted at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

Interestingly, Best’s portrayal of Beq was not his first. The character initially appeared in the children’s contest series, Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge. Favreau elaborated on this transition from a non-canonical character to a series regular alongside Mando and Grogu.

“With Ahmed, we’ve put a significant amount of work into the character of Kelleran Beq for Jedi Temple Challenge. He has been intertwined with Star Wars throughout,” Favreau shared. “We always look for inspiration across the entirety of Star Wars, even non-canonical elements. If it feels right, we incorporate it. Now, Kelleran Beq exists firmly within the Star Wars canon.”
