Asobo and Microsoft Reveal Development Plans, Enhanced Avionics, and Record-Breaking Sales

Microsoft and Asobo Studio unveiled their plans for the future development of Microsoft Flight Simulator yesterday.

They announced a World Update and City Update for Central and Eastern Europe, which will introduce new, highly-detailed locations to the popular simulation game.

Impressive Sales Results for Antonov An-225

Asobo highlighted the outstanding sales of the massive Antonov An-225 aircraft, which have already reached $1 million. This equates to roughly 50,000 purchases of the aircraft.

Microsoft and Asobo had previously committed to donating all proceeds from the Antonov An-225 sales to support Ukraine in rebuilding the colossal plane, which was destroyed during the Russian invasion.

The team also shared the tremendous success of the recently launched ATR 42/72 aircraft. It has become the fastest-selling plane in Microsoft Flight Simulator’s history.

Upcoming Free City Update 2

On June 18th, the free City Update 2 will be released, adding photogrammetry to five new French cities: Amiens, Angers, Nantes, Nimes, and Reims. Additionally, the Paris Le Bourget (LFPB) airport will be included for free. The historic Latecoere 631 airplane will also be available for purchase starting June 19th.

As part of their ongoing commitment to improving the simulation experience, the developers announced enhancements to the avionics and other systems for the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner and 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft.

These improvements will be accessible in the free Aircraft & Avionics Update 2, scheduled for release on June 23, 2023.

Towards the end of the livestream, a teaser image of Prague with photogrammetry was shown, suggesting that players can anticipate a World Update for Central and Eastern Europe in the near future. This update is eagerly awaited by many Microsoft Flight Simulator enthusiasts.
