During the red carpet event for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Pascal provided the first major update on the status of Spider-Man 4 in several months. She expressed confidence in the continuation of the beloved franchise, stating, “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are.”
Pascal further explained that the writers’ strike has temporarily halted progress on the film, as no work can proceed during this time. However, she assured fans that as soon as the strike is resolved and the writers resume their work, production will kick into high gear.
Promising Developments in the Making
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, previously mentioned in February that the team had the story idea in place for Spider-Man 4. Feige shared, “All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.”
While no Spider-Man movies are currently scheduled for Marvel Phase 5 or even Marvel Phase 6, it is evident that Sony recognizes the tremendous success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the highest-grossing film of the pandemic era. As a result, it is highly unlikely that Sony will let go of this lucrative franchise anytime soon.
