Developer Responds to Concerns: Avowed’s Graphics to Receive Enhancements

Obsidian Entertainment addresses criticism and promises to refine the visuals of their upcoming RPG, Avowed.

With a stunning cinematic debut in 2020, Obsidian Entertainment unveiled their highly anticipated RPG, Avowed. Three years later, the project resurfaced at the recent Xbox Games Showcase with a new trailer, showcasing more action and additional elements.

While fans were excited by what they saw, some expressed concerns, particularly regarding the game’s visuals. In response to comments and criticism, a developer from Obsidian has stepped forward to address the issue.

Developer Reassures Fans: Avowed’s Development Still in Early Stage

In a post on the RPG Codex forums, developer Briar Diem, who claims to work at Obsidian Entertainment, shed light on the current state of the upcoming fantasy video game.

According to Diem, Avowed is still in the Pre-Alpha phase, indicating that the development process is at an early stage. The developer assured fans that changes to the art and lighting are to be expected as the game progresses.

Art and Lighting Adjustments on the Horizon

“The trailer reveals very little in those 2 minutes. I would like to address some misunderstandings that have arisen. All I can say is that the game has not yet reached the Alpha phase.

The art will undergo refinements in various ways, and the lighting will be altered. However, the core designs will remain unchanged; they are what they are,” stated the developer.

Diem also mentioned that Avowed will have the longest Beta/Alpha period of any Obsidian game “by far,” which he considers to be positive news. In another post, the developer clarified that the trailer had undergone significant color editing, and the screenshots shared after the event provide a better representation of the game’s visuals.

Reminder of Respect: Behind the Game Are People

While Diem tolerates negative and toxic comments, the Obsidian Entertainment team member kindly reminded users that real people with their own feelings are involved in the production of this project. Thus, he invited people to refrain from insults and harsh criticism directed at the team.
