Unveiling Star Wars Outlaws: Ubisoft Massive’s Innovative Shooter Experience

Get ready for an immersive and action-packed sci-fi adventure in the Star Wars universe.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Julian Gerighty, the creative director of Massive Entertainment, sheds light on the gameplay of Star Wars Outlaws and addresses the comparisons being drawn between the game and Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Gerighty’s focus lies on the shooter sessions, highlighting the efforts made by Ubisoft to create a unique and captivating experience for players in this new sci-fi adventure.

Immerse Yourself as an Outlaw

Star Wars Outlaws

During Ubisoft Forward, viewers caught a glimpse of the gameplay scenes from Star Wars Outlaws, and Gerighty explains that the team’s goal was to offer players an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the outlaw atmosphere of the Star Wars universe.

“In this game, you won’t be trained soldiers, but rather outcasts armed with a gun,” remarks Gerighty. He goes on to elaborate on the gameplay, stating that players will embark on their adventure with the spirit of bold and enterprising outlaws—space gunslingers equipped with blasters, gadgets, state-of-the-art equipment, and accompanied by the loyal Nix.

There won’t be much time for finding cover or strategizing comfortable shooting positions; instead, players will dive into action head-on.

A Unique Shooter Experience

According to Gerighty, Star Wars Outlaws will differentiate itself from titles like The Division, which heavily rely on cover-based shooting mechanics.

He exemplifies this by mentioning the “Trick Shots” showcased in the gameplay reveal, where players can utilize their character’s skills to hit moving targets and create incredibly spectacular scenes. Through these features, players will feel remarkably skilled and, perhaps even lucky, akin to the legendary outlaws in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch in 2024, bringing its thrilling shooter gameplay to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, offering fans of the franchise an opportunity to step into the shoes of daring outlaws in a galaxy far, far away.
