Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, the highly anticipated installment in the open-world racing series, has experienced another delay. The game, set to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Switch, is now expected to arrive in “early 2024.” However, there is some positive news as a closed beta for the game is slated to commence later this month.
The unveiling of Solar Crown took place in 2020, promising an immersive experience with a digital recreation of Hong Kong Island and an extensive network of 550km of roads to explore. Initially, the game was scheduled for a September release in 2021 across all platforms.
However, in May 2022, publisher Nacon announced a delay, moving the release to an undisclosed point in 2023. Furthermore, the development for the previously announced PS4 and Xbox One versions was discontinued to fully utilize the capabilities of the latest consoles and optimize the overall quality of the game.

Now, Nacon has quietly pushed back the release of Solar Crown once again, citing “early 2024” as the new expected launch window. The specific reasons behind this delay have not been disclosed by Nacon or developer KT Racing. This updated timeframe was revealed in a recent Nacon financial report and was further emphasized during the debut episode of KT Racing’s TDU Connect showcase.
During the TDU Connect showcase, fans were treated to approximately 25 minutes of intense head-to-head gameplay footage. Additionally, it was announced that the closed beta for Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown will finally commence later this month.
The closed beta is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 24, and will last for three days.
