The Elder Scrolls 6: Progress Begins, Patience Required for News

Bethesda shares insights into the status of The Elder Scrolls 6 and its timeline.

Good news for all the eager fans of The Elder Scrolls series! Bethesda, the game’s developer, has confirmed that the much-anticipated title, The Elder Scrolls 6, is now in the early stages of development. Though initially announced back in 2018, the game has taken a step forward in its creation journey.

The head of publishing at Bethesda, Pete Hines, shared with Vandal that The Elder Scrolls 6 has transitioned from its pre-production phase into full-fledged development. This marks a significant step forward in the game’s creation process.

While fans are understandably excited about the progress of The Elder Scrolls 6, Hines mentioned that the primary focus of the studio is currently on another upcoming game, Starfield.

He emphasized that the team’s energy and attention are directed towards ensuring Starfield’s excellence, which means that updates about The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be arriving anytime soon.

The Elder Scrolls VI

When asked about the possibility of updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 after the release of Starfield, Hines clarified that although work on The Elder Scrolls 6 is underway, the priority is firmly placed on Starfield for the time being. He stated that it will be a while before any substantial details are revealed about The Elder Scrolls 6.

Hines was also questioned about the specific stage of development for The Elder Scrolls 6. He confirmed that the game is indeed in development but is still in its early phases. This means that while progress is being made, there is still much to be done before the game reaches completion.

Reflecting on the past, Bethesda’s director Todd Howard mentioned that if he had the chance to do it over again, he might have announced The Elder Scrolls 6 in a more casual manner.

The original announcement was made at E3 2018, accompanied by a brief teaser trailer. However, due to the considerable time required for development, Bethesda has been cautious about sharing extensive details.

A Patient Wait Ahead

As revealed during a Microsoft trial in June, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, shared that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still projected to be “five plus years away.” This means that fans will need to exercise patience before they can immerse themselves in the next fantasy RPG adventure crafted by Bethesda.

The journey to The Elder Scrolls 6 continues, and though the road may be long, the anticipation and excitement among fans remain as strong as ever.
