EA Sports FC 24 Scores Big: On Course to Surpass FIFA 23’s Success

EA Sports FC 24's Launch Success: A New Chapter in Virtual Football.

EA Sports FC 24

EA Sports FC 24 is on a trajectory to outperform its predecessor, FIFA 23, with Electronic Arts projecting “modest growth” for the title year-on-year. This comes from EA’s CFO Stuart Canfield, who spoke during the company’s earnings call for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2024.

Despite the high bar set by FIFA 23, which benefited from the excitement surrounding the World Cup, EA Sports FC 24 has had a robust launch, marking a significant transition for EA’s global football business.

The game has seen a remarkable uptake, with net bookings for EA’s global football business surging by 41% year-over-year. This growth is attributed to the sustained momentum of FIFA 23, which included a substantial increase in mobile net bookings, and the strong demand for EA Sports FC 24.

Within the first four weeks post-launch, over 14.5 million fans engaged with FC 24 on consoles and premium PC platforms, and the game also witnessed a surge in new players.

The mobile version set new records for the franchise, with over two million installations on the first day, five million within three days, and over 11 million in the first ten days.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson addressed questions about the sales pace for FC 24 during the earnings call, noting that the company is prepared for two scenarios: an initial sales spike driven by the excitement of the rebrand or a more gradual increase as players transition to the new title.

Wilson expressed confidence in the launch, highlighting the influx of new fans and players as a positive indicator for the future. He also acknowledged the significant number of players still engaged with the previous game, FIFA 23, and outlined EA’s strategy to transition these players to FC 24 to continue growing the franchise’s base.

Looking forward, EA Sports FC remains on track for low single-digit growth for the year, indicating a steady and positive outlook for the franchise’s future.
