A Real-Life Adventure Awaits in the New Pokémon Theme Park

The Pokémon Universe Expands with an Immersive New Theme Park in Japan.

The world of Pokémon is set to expand beyond the digital realm into a new, exciting reality. Following the footsteps of other popular franchises, Pokémon is gearing up to introduce its very own theme park, PokePark Kanto, situated in the real-life region that inspired the iconic original games.

The announcement, made by The Pokémon Company, reveals plans to collaborate with Yomiuri Land Co. and The Yomiuri Shimbun in establishing PokePark Kanto.

This new addition is slated to be part of the existing Yomiuriland amusement park, located in Tama Hills, within Japan’s Kanto region. The theme park aims to offer an immersive Pokémon experience, blending the enchantment of the games with the beauty of natural surroundings.

Pokémon Red and Green (known as Pokémon Blue in the West) were set in a fictional Kanto region, named after this very real-world area. This isn’t the first time The Pokémon Company and Yomiuriland have joined forces.

In 2021, they introduced Pokémon Wonder, a nature-focused section within the park featuring Pokémon-themed trails and statues hidden among the trees. While Pokémon Wonder is more of a nature reservation with a Pokémon twist, PokePark Kanto promises to be a full-fledged theme park dedicated to the beloved franchise.

As of now, details about the specific attractions or experiences that PokePark Kanto will offer remain under wraps. The project is described as a permanent fixture within Yomiuriland, promising a rich, engaging environment for Pokémon fans. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the opening date.

Given the scale and complexity of theme park construction, enthusiasts might have to wait a while before they can explore this real-life Pokémon world.

In the meantime, Pokémon fans have plenty to keep themselves occupied. The upcoming release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, along with the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, provides a digital adventure filled with new Pokémon and features to explore.
