Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land Set to Debut on Steam

Experience the Futuristic Desert World of Sand Land, Akira Toriyama's Latest Gaming Venture.

The release date for “Sand Land,” the highly anticipated action game from Akira Toriyama, has been officially set. Known for his iconic work in “Dragon Ball,” “Dragon Quest,” and “Chrono Trigger,” Toriyama is bringing his distinctive visual style to the gaming world with “Sand Land,” an action RPG that promises to captivate fans of his previous works. This announcement comes alongside news of a new animated series adaptation of the “Sand Land” manga, set to debut on Disney+ in 2024.

In “Sand Land,” players will embark on a journey as Fiend Prince Beelzebub in a desert world reminiscent of “Mad Max,” where an extreme water shortage has driven humans and demons to desperate measures. Accompanied by characters Thief and Sheriff Rao, players will navigate this post-apocalyptic world in search of the Legendary Spring, a mythical source of water.

The game emphasizes vehicle combat and customization, a central element of the gameplay. Players can construct and customize a variety of vehicles, from nimble dome-shaped hoverships with autonomous combat drones to speedy dune buggies and formidable walking mechs armed with sound cannons or machine guns. This variety offers players numerous tactical options to explore the expansive desert landscape and engage in high-octane battles.

The recent trailer for “Sand Land” showcases the extensive customization options available. Developer ILCA has promised “hundreds of parts” for players to modify their vehicles’ main and secondary weapons, engines, and suspensions. This level of customization ensures a unique experience for each player, allowing for personalization in both aesthetics and combat strategy.
