Unveiling Infinite Wealth in the Like a Dragon Saga

An RPG Twist and Hawaiian Escapade in SEGA's Latest Gaming Endeavor.

SEGA and RGG Studio are ready to captivate gamers with the newest installment in their acclaimed Like a Dragon series, titled ‘Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth‘. This latest addition is poised to intrigue fans with its significant gameplay shift and a fresh setting that ventures beyond the familiar streets of Japan.

‘Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’ stands out as a pivotal moment in the series, especially following its predecessor ‘Like a Dragon: Gaiden’. The previous titles, including the prequel ‘Yakuza Zero’, were known for their fast-paced action and beat-em-up gameplay.

However, ‘Infinite Wealth’ introduces a turn-based RPG style, aligning it more with the critically acclaimed 2020 game ‘Yakuza: Like A Dragon’. This shift not only marks a departure in the series’ seventeen-year history but also broadens its appeal to a wider range of players.

The game’s protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, a self-proclaimed JRPG aficionado and a die-hard fan of Dragon Quest, finds his journey reflecting his passions. RGG Studio’s decision to transition the series into a turn-based RPG format has been a bold move, enhancing the game’s narrative and action sequences.

Diverse Gameplay and Cultural Shift

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

The opening movie of ‘Infinite Wealth’ is a testament to the game’s diverse gameplay and eccentric style. It features a mix of side activities like shopping and clubbing, set to a jazzy soundtrack reminiscent of the Lupin III series. This showcases the series’ trademark blend of bizarre action and a rich variety of gameplay elements.

A notable first for the series is the new setting in Hawaii, a significant departure from its traditional Japan-centric locales. This expansion into new geographical territory adds an exciting dimension to the game’s narrative and exploration elements. The video highlights Ichiban’s charismatic and playful personality as he navigates the vibrant Hawaiian environment.

‘Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’ also introduces a novel approach to game demos. Players who completed ‘Like a Dragon: Gaiden’ were given early access to a portion of ‘Infinite Wealth’, allowing them to experience the game’s dual gameplay styles. This integration of a demo with a preceding game is a first for the series, offering a unique preview of the upcoming adventure.
