PS5 Update Enhances DualSense Audio and Introduces Interactive Share Screen

Sony's new PS5 system software update improves DualSense audio, allows brightness adjustment, and enables interactive Share Screen features.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has rolled out a significant system software update for the PlayStation 5, further enhancing the console’s capabilities and elevating the gaming experience for players worldwide. The latest update, version 9.00, introduces a range of improvements, including enhancements to the DualSense wireless controller’s audio performance, interactive features for Share Screen, and the ability to adjust the brightness of the console’s power indicator.

One of the most significant additions in this update is the improved audio quality for the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers. Sony has implemented a new AI machine learning model that optimizes noise cancellation, reducing background noise from button presses and in-game audio during voice chat. This enhancement ensures a more immersive and clear communication experience, allowing players to engage in seamless conversations without unwanted disturbances.

Furthermore, the update has unlocked higher volume capabilities for the DualSense controllers’ built-in speakers. Players can now experience in-game sounds and voice chat audio with greater clarity and depth, further amplifying the level of immersion and adding an extra dimension to their gaming sessions.

Complementing these audio enhancements, Sony has introduced a highly anticipated feature for Share Screen interactions. Players watching a shared screen in full-screen mode can now engage with the host’s gameplay using pointers, emojis, and reactions. This innovative addition allows viewers to highlight specific areas, guide the host more accurately, and visually encourage or celebrate gameplay actions. However, it’s important to note that this feature is optional and can be disabled by the host through the Share Screen settings.

Addressing a long-standing request from the community, the update also introduces the ability to adjust the brightness of the PlayStation 5 console’s power indicator. Players can now navigate to the Settings menu, select System, Beep and Light, and adjust the brightness level according to their preferences, ensuring a personalized and comfortable gaming environment.

In addition to these major highlights, the update brings Unicode 15.1 emoji support, allowing players to express themselves with a wider range of emoticons in messages. Sony has also implemented performance and stability improvements for various PlayStation hardware, including the DualSense controllers, PlayStation VR2 headset, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and the Access controller.

With this comprehensive update, Sony continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the PlayStation 5 experience, addressing user feedback, and delivering innovative features that cater to the evolving needs of the gaming community. Whether it’s through improved audio quality, collaborative gameplay sharing, or personalized settings, the latest system software update promises to elevate the level of immersion, interaction, and overall enjoyment for PlayStation 5 owners worldwide.
