Jackie Chan Reassures Fans After Concerns Over His “Old” Appearance: “It’s Just a Character Role”

The action star reassures followers that his recent photos showing grey hair and an aged look are simply for a character in his latest movie.

Beloved action icon Jackie Chan is setting the record straight after recent photos of the 70-year-old actor sparked concerns among his fans. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Chan assured his followers that his greyed hair, beard, and aged appearance are simply for a character role in his latest movie.

“Not so long ago, a lot of friends saw some recent photos of me on the internet, and they were all concerned about my health,” Chan wrote in the caption. “I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know, don’t worry! It’s just a character appearance for my latest movie. The character requires me to have white hair, white beard and look old.”

The legendary martial artist and actor went on to explain that he has always been willing to undergo transformations for his roles, no matter how challenging. “Over the years, I’ve always been willing to try new things for a movie, no matter if it’s a challenging stunt or a breakthrough appearance for a character,” he said.

Chan, who celebrated his 70th birthday on April 7th, expressed his shock at reaching the milestone age. “Every time I hear this number, my heart would stop for a second — I’m 70 years old already?” he wrote. However, the actor also shared a saying from his “big brother,” fellow action star Sammo Hung, that “being able to grow old is a fortunate thing,” especially for stunt performers like Chan.
