Destiny 2 Update Brings Back Classic Missions, New PvP Maps, and Raid Gauntlet

Bungie's upcoming free update for Destiny 2 brings back the iconic Whisper and Zero Hour missions, along with new PvP maps, a Raid gauntlet, and more.

Bungie is gearing up to deliver a massive content update for Destiny 2 with the highly anticipated ‘Into the Light’ release, scheduled for April 9th. This free update promises to be a celebration of the game’s rich history while introducing exciting new experiences for players to explore.

One of the most significant highlights of Into the Light is the long-awaited return of two fan-favorite Exotic missions: The Whisper and Zero Hour. These challenging and beloved missions, which were originally introduced in Destiny 2’s early years, were vaulted during the Beyond Light expansion in 2020, leaving many players yearning for their return. Bungie has now answered those calls, bringing back these iconic quests with a fresh coat of paint and new surprises.

The Whisper mission will once again task players with navigating a treacherous journey through the Io wilderness, culminating in a tense encounter with the fearsome Taken enemies. This time around, the mission will feature updated enemy density, new enemy types, and revamped secrets, ensuring that even seasoned veterans will find new challenges to conquer.

Similarly, Zero Hour will make its triumphant return, challenging Guardians to infiltrate a high-security facility and face off against formidable foes. While the core mechanics remain intact, Bungie has promised increased enemy counts and entirely new secrets to uncover, making this mission a fresh and exciting experience for both newcomers and seasoned players.

As an added incentive, both The Whisper and Zero Hour will introduce craftable versions of their iconic Exotic weapons: Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected, respectively. By completing these missions, players will earn blueprints that allow them to customize and enhance these powerful firearms, offering a new level of depth and customization.

In addition to these revived classics, Into the Light will introduce three brand-new PvP maps, each offering unique environments and gameplay experiences. The first map is set on Europa, where players will battle amidst a research outpost and a docked Ketch, blending Braytech technology with the harsh icy terrain.

The second map takes place in the gleaming city of Neomuna, showcasing the clean and futuristic aesthetic of this new location. Here, players will engage in intense firefights around a central atrium and winding hallways.

Finally, the third map transports Guardians to the heart of a Witness’ pyramid ship, where the clash between Light and Darkness has created a surreal and otherworldly battleground. This map promises to offer a unique and visually stunning setting for players to test their skills.

But the surprises don’t stop there. Bungie has also unveiled Pantheon, a brand-new Raid boss gauntlet that will challenge players to face off against some of the game’s most iconic Raid bosses. This new activity promises escalating difficulties and rewards, offering a fresh challenge for seasoned Raid enthusiasts.

Furthermore, Into the Light will introduce a new title, “Brave,” which players can unlock by completing all the associated Triumphs and a new seal. Additionally, character and name changes will become available to all players, providing an opportunity for Guardians to refresh their identities.

As if that weren’t enough, Bungie has teased a gameplay preview for the highly anticipated expansion, Destiny 2: The Final Shape, scheduled for a livestream on April 9th, just before the Into the Light update goes live. This preview promises to offer a tantalizing glimpse into the epic conclusion of the Light and Darkness saga.

With the return of beloved missions, new PvP maps, a Raid gauntlet, and a tease of the upcoming expansion, Destiny 2’s Into the Light update is shaping up to be a massive celebration of the game’s rich history and a tantalizing glimpse into its future. Whether you’re a veteran Guardian or a newcomer to the world of Destiny, this update promises to deliver an unforgettable experience.
