Anime fans in the US have big news – the next My Hero Academia movie is coming to theaters! “My Hero Academia: You’re Next” will hit screens on October 11, 2024.
This will be the fourth film in the popular superhero series. It’s already premiered in Japan back in August. Now, the company Toho International is bringing the subtitled and dubbed versions stateside.
They made the big announcement at the Anime Expo convention in LA. Fans got a sneak peek of the opening 15 minutes! Toho’s president said after the success of Godzilla Minus One, people in America want to watch these Japanese movies on the big screen with friends.
The film continues Izuku Midoriya’s story as a teen aspiring to be a superhero in a world where most have “quirks,” or superpowers. It takes place after a big war, with Japan now facing cities disappearing and societal collapse. Izuku and his classmates at UA High must confront a new threat – a mysterious giant fortress consuming everything.
Past My Hero Academia movies have done really well in the US, making over $5 million each. The highest was Heroes Rising at $13 million.
With Japanese anime movies like Demon Slayer breaking records worldwide, fans can’t wait to see how Izuku and friends save the day again in My Hero Academia: You’re Next coming to a theater near you this October!
