Are you ready to hit the waves in a post-apocalyptic world? Montreal game studio Double Stallion is cooking up a rad new game called Surfpunk that looks totally gnarly!
Instead of their usual side-scrolling games, they’re trying something different – an online action RPG where you scavenge islands on homemade surfboards. Yeah, you read that right! You and up to three friends will paddle out as “Raiders” to find gear and power sources amidst the flooded ruins.
Procedurally generated islands mean no two sessions will be the exact same. You’ll craft your way to sweet customized gear and rushboards on the fly. But watch out for those creepy black “Sumi” monsters – they get fiercer the longer you stick around!
With a tropical vibe inspired by Pacific cultures, Surfpunk aims to perfectly balance exploration and retreat. Your mobile “Beastship” base is where you’ll trade loot, meet locals, and amp up your arsenal. Visuals marry anime style with gritty post-apocalyptic tones.
This is a huge change of pace for Double Stallion, but their solid gameplay track record has fans hyped. No launch date yet as it’s early in development, but you can wishlist Surfpunk on Steam now to show support. Based on the rad concept and the studio’s talent, this one shows promise to catch epic waves in the indie scene! I can’t wait to drop in.
