Joker 2 Is Starting To Take Shape, Another Cast Member Will Return to the Role

Is it possible that one of the mysteries of the first part has just been solved?

Zazie Beetz

Several days ago, Warner Bros. announced the official release date for Joker: Folie à Deux, the second installment of the huge 2019 blockbuster telling the genesis of the Prince of Crime.

Soon after Lady Gaga confirmed her involvement in the film, who will likely play Dr. Harley Quinn, who attempts to heal the tarnished mind of the title character set in Arkham Asylum.

Now Deadline website has reported that according to their sources, Zazie Beetz has been negotiating her return in the second installment. Actress played Sophie Dumond, single mother and neighbor of Arthur Fleck, whom the future criminal secretly had a crush on.

Audiences have long debated whether Sophie survived a close encounter with the Joker in her apartment, or if Arthur Fleck carried out his first conscious murder on her, which can’t be defended with a self-defense argument.

The return of Zazie Beetz will ultimately settle this dispute if the actress comes to an agreement on contract terms with the studio. It is not clear how big the role will be, so it’s possible that she will appear only in flashback scenes.

The Joker 2 premiere date

Joker: Folie à Deux is directed by Todd Phillips. Joaquin Phoenix will again be seen in the role of the Prince of Crime. The film’s shooting is scheduled to begin this December. We’ll have to wait until October 4, 2024 for the premiere.
