Microsoft responded very quickly to Sony’s announcement today of a price increase for the PS5. The decision by the Redmond-based company is surprising, nevertheless gamers should rejoice.
We did not have to wait long for Microsoft’s reaction to the PS5 price hike announced today by Sony. Responding to an inquiry from Windows Central, a spokesman for the Redmond giant declared that the company has no plans to raise the price of the Xbox Series X and S for the time being.
We are constantly evaluating our business to offer fans great gaming options. And our suggested retail price for the Xbox Series S will remain at $299 US, and the Xbox Series X at $499 US.
While this decision is extremely pro-consumer and undoubtedly positive in terms of image – particularly in light of Sony’s announcement of the increase – it also has to be considered surprising.
“High global inflation, along with unfavorable currency trends,” because of which the rival company raised PS5 prices, ultimately can affect Microsoft as well.
So gamers would not be particularly surprised if that company also adjusted the prices of its consoles in the future. Many would certainly consider it natural and obvious.
However, for the time being, the Microsoft company has decided to act differently than its competitor Sony and do not raise the price of Xbox consoles.
This, obviously, doesn’t mean that Xbox Series X and S will always cost the same. But one can hope that Microsoft will not increase their price in the near future.
