A relaunch for the PS5?

Sony Is Breathing New Life Into Its Uncharted Game

Uncharted has been one of Sony’s most successful game series, and that is in much thanks to its developer studio Naughty Dog. While the company previously had announced that they will not continue this series, but Sony apparently hasn’t given up on Nathan Drake’s adventures yet.

The Uncharted series was completed with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the spinoff Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Overall, more than 16 million copies of the main game were sold, so you can call the series finale quite a success. Still, Naughty Dog indicated that the main series is finished after the fourth part.

Since the Uncharted movie was also a success, it is not surprising that Sony has not finished with the brand yet. Sony already gave the go-ahead for a reboot of Uncharted a long time ago, says the site The Leak.

It is supposed to be a complete reboot for the PlayStation 5. Either the adventures of Nathan Drake will continue, or a completely new character will be introduced.

The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was recently released for the PC:

A new Uncharted probably not from Naughty Dog

There is one downer, however, as a new game would probably not be from Naughty Dog. The team is not to be completely eliminated, though, and could support the new studio in development.

Official statements have not yet been made, although a job posting from October 2022 could be a hint. A game design intern is being sought for the new PlayStation studio in San Diego.

They would be there “working with Naughty Dog to develop an exciting new project in a popular franchise.” It’s not known if this job posting is actually related to a new Uncharted game. We’ll keep you guys updated.
