It seems that Marvel’s plans to premiere its series for 2023 have changed. Earlier reports said we were to receive up to seven new seasons, but this number may be reduced to just four.
At this point, debuts of Secret Invasion, the second season of Loki and Ironheart and the animated series X-Men ’97 are not threatened.
Sadly, MCU fans won’t be able to count on this year’s premieres of Echo, What If…? and Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
3 Marvel series will not debut in 2023
According to The Direct, the three series in question are to be delayed for another year. Echo, under development for a long time, originally was to debut at the end of this year, but now the premiere is said to be set for early 2024.
Also, we’ll have to wait until next year for the second season of What If…?, originally scheduled to appear on Disney+ later in 2022.
We’ll have to wait the longest for the debut of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which is not scheduled to debut until after the premiere of Daredevil, that is, in 2025.
Whether this is an aftermath of last year’s changes in the creation of new productions at Marvel Studios, which according to recent reports, is to change its policy and place emphasis on the quality rather than quantity of productions offered, is unknown.
It’s quite possible that due to the changes, the makers of the aforementioned series have had to make some changes in their projects, which need a little more time.
This does not mean, though, the studio is focusing only on already announced projects, however, and the latest rumor is that Marvel is preparing a serialized adaptation of Strange Academy, that would be a spin-off of Doctor Strange.
In the series, we would be seeing the further adventures of Wong (Benedict Wong), Americi Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) and Zelma Stanton, who is expected to make her debut in the Ironheart series. Strange Academy is to focus on a school for adept magicians that would train future sorcerers.
