Tim Blake Nelson To Join Dune Sequel’s Crowded Cast

Although it might seem that Barbie and Oppenheimer are the two 2023 films with the most star-studded casts in Hollywood, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune sequel has overtaken them on the right, bringing new performers into its cast even after the end of the film’s shooting was announced.

As The Hollywood Reporter has announced, Tim Blake Nelson is the latest actor to join the bulging cast of Dune: Part Two.

A surprising announcement considering that the film finished shooting a few weeks ago. Details about his character and involvement are, naturally, kept under lock and key.

Blake Nelson, a frequent collaborator of Guillermo del Toro, we have seen him in films like Watchmen, in addition to series like Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities which premiered this year on Netflix. He also voiced the character of the rabbit in the Mexican’s new film Pinocchio.

Besides Blake Nelson, the Dune sequel has also signed as new additions the star of Elvis, Austin Butler or Florence Pough, one of the best regarded actresses of her generation. Dune: Part Two is expected to arrive in November 2023, though rumors suggest it could be delayed.

Dune’s world is still expanding

Following its new strategy of expanding universes through film and television, not only has Warner greenlit a sequel to Dune, which will likely become the second part of a trilogy, but has also begun developing a series exclusively for HBO Max titled Dune: The Sisterhood.

This series is going to be set 10,000 years before the events of Dune and will tell the story of the creation of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
