The highly-anticipated vampire hunter shooter game, Redfall, has finally had its release date revealed as part of the first Xbox Developer Direct. The game, developed by Arkane Austin, will be released on May 2nd, 2023 for both PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

The announcement of the release date was not a surprise to many, as insiders had leaked the information a few weeks prior to the official announcement.

During the Developer Direct, the Arkane Austin team also provided an in-depth gameplay demo, showcasing various features of the game such as the vampire hunting action, cooperative gameplay with up to three friends, and the loot system.

Players will be tasked with freeing the small town of Redfall in Massachusetts from a vampire invasion, and putting an end to the machinations of the head vampires. The game offers both a stealth and brute force approach to gameplay, allowing players to choose their preferred method of vampire hunting.

In addition to the main story, Redfall also features side stories that can be discovered as players explore the environment. These stories may not always be directly connected to a quest but will provide additional context and depth to the game. Exploration is also rewarded with new weapons that have different attributes and levels, similar to a role-playing game.

Redfall will be available in two different versions: a standard edition and a Bite Back Edition. The standard edition will cost $76, while the Bite Back Edition, which includes additional content such as the Hero Pass, Throwback Outfit Pack, and other in-game items, will cost $109.

All pre-orders, regardless of the version purchased, will also receive the Vampire Hunter Pack, which includes a special shotgun, weapon skin, and weapon attachment. Players who have Xbox Game Pass will also have access to the Vampire Hunter Pack.
