Back 4 Blood Content Is Complete With Turtle Rock Studios Working on Next Game

The Left 4 Dead creators will concentrate their efforts on a new project, which has not yet been announced; Back 4 Blood will continue to operate as normal.

It is with mixed emotions that Turtle Rock Studios, now a part of Tencent, has announced that they will be ending post-launch support for their highly-acclaimed cooperative zombie game, Back 4 Blood.

While the game has received three expansions and continues to be available for purchase, the studio has expressed their need to focus on their next big project.

In a recent statement, the studio acknowledged that their team is small and that they simply don’t have the manpower to continue working on Back 4 Blood while dedicating resources to their upcoming game.

“We’re a tight-knit team and our passion lies in creating AAA games. For this reason, it’s time for us to put our heads down, go back to the lab, and work on our next project,” the studio said.

The decision to end support for Back 4 Blood does not mean that the game will be shut down or become unavailable. It will continue to function normally and can still be purchased or played through subscription services such as PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium or Xbox Game Pass.

Back 4 Blood was released in October 2021 and has received critical acclaim, with many calling it the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, the title for which Turtle Rock Studios is best known.

According to many reviews, Back 4 Blood adds a new level of depth to the cooperative multiplayer genre, invigorating the formula without sacrificing the immediate appeal that has always been a hallmark of the Left 4 Dead series.

The future is bright for Turtle Rock Studios and Tencent Games Global. Director of Strategy, Eddie Chan, expressed his excitement at the acquisition, saying, “We’re huge fans of Turtle Rock’s games and their focus on creating cooperative online experiences. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next.”

This has led many to believe that the studio’s next game will also be cooperative in nature, continuing their legacy of delivering thrilling and engaging PvE experiences.
