The MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023 honored some of the biggest stars and productions in the entertainment industry.

While the awards show was initially meant to be broadcast live from California, Drew Barrymore’s withdrawal as the host led to a pre-recorded special being aired for the viewers. In this article, we’ll explore the winners of the evening and the highlights of their speeches.

Pedro Pascal Wins Big

Pedro Pascal took home two awards at the ceremony for his portrayal of Joel in The Last of Us. He won the Best Hero award and also shared the Best Duo award with his co-star, Bella Ramsey.

Additionally, The Last of Us was named the Best Show. In his pre-recorded speech, Pascal paid tribute to the young people who inspire him and support his career.

Jennifer Coolidge Takes Home Two Awards

Jennifer Coolidge received two awards at the MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023. She won the Most Frightened Performance award for her role in The White Lotus and also received the Comedic Genius award.

Coolidge was the first headliner of the evening to mention the writers’ strike and showed her support for the writers in her acceptance speech.

Tom Cruise won the Best Performance in a Movie award for Top Gun: Maverick and gave an exciting speech while piloting a fighter jet. Scream VI was named the Best Picture, and Jenna Ortega won the Best Series Performance award for Wednesday.

Adam Sandler received the Best Comedic Performance award for Murder Mystery 2, while Joseph Quinn won the Breakthrough Performance award for Stranger Things.
