Pokémon Developer Takes a Leap with Rockstar Games’ Affiliate in Project Bloom

Game Freak Partners with Private Division for Multiplatform Action Game, Project Bloom

Game Freak, best known as the primary developer behind the main Pokémon titles, has been working on projects beyond the beloved franchise and is eager to expand its portfolio.

The studio is now collaborating with Private Division, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns Rockstar Games, to create an ambitious new game.

A recent announcement on Private Division’s website confirmed a distribution agreement between the two companies.

As a result, Private Division will handle the distribution of Project Bloom, an action-adventure game marking the beginning of a fresh franchise for Game Freak.

Game Freak and Private Division shared early concept art from Project Bloom as part of the announcement. The artwork offers a peek into the game’s natural environment, suggesting an intriguing world filled with adventures and mysteries.

Kota Furushima, a director at Game Freak, revealed that Project Bloom will be a “daring” endeavor, significantly different from their previous work.

Consequently, players can anticipate a project that diverges from Pokémon, Tembo The Badass Elephant, and Pocket Card Jockey.

Furushima expressed excitement about the new IP, stating, “From the very beginning, Private Division was the publisher we wanted to work with on our new game.

Their track record and global experience give us all the confidence to create a comprehensive new action-adventure game that we can’t wait to share more of in the future.”

Project Bloom: Release Date and Platforms

Project Bloom’s release date has not been announced yet, but it is anticipated to debut sometime in fiscal 2026. While no specific platforms have been confirmed, the game is expected to be a multiplatform release.

As more information emerges about Project Bloom, fans will be eager to see what Game Freak and Private Division have in store for this new and daring action-adventure game.
