During the highly anticipated June Nintendo Direct event, fans of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were in for a treat as the latest DLC installment, Booster Course Pass Wave 5, was revealed.
Nintendo has now shared the exciting details about the new tracks and additional playable characters that racers can look forward to from July 12 onwards.
New Tracks, New Thrills
In this DLC release, players can expect not only new Grand Prix Cups but also fresh and exciting tracks to conquer. While most of the tracks have been borrowed from previous Mario Kart titles and revamped to suit the style of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, there is one track that is completely brand-new, offering a unique experience for players. Let’s take a closer look at the Cups and their associated tracks:
Cherry Cup
- Los Angeles Lap (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
- Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii)
- Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour)

Feather Cup
- Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour)
- Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!)
- Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii)
Among these tracks, the inclusion of Moonview Highway from Mario Kart Wii is a delightful surprise, capturing the beauty of the scenic surroundings and providing an enjoyable drifting experience. We’ll have to wait until July 12 to put these thrilling tracks to the test.
New Characters Take the Spotlight
Alongside the exciting tracks, Booster Course Pass Wave 5 introduces three new playable characters, adding more variety and fun to the racing experience. Get ready to welcome Petey Piranha, Kamek, and Wiggler to the roster.
Petey Piranha is a fearsome antagonist, a mutant Piranha Plant that first made its appearance in Super Mario Sunshine. Prepare to race against this formidable adversary.
Kamek, one of Bowser’s trusted advisors and a prominent member of the Koopa Troop, makes his much-anticipated debut as a playable character. This fan-favorite baddie brings his magical prowess to the race, adding a touch of mischief to the competition.
Last but certainly not least, we have the adorable Wiggler. Don’t be fooled by this charming caterpillar’s cute appearance; when someone stands in Wiggler’s way, they’ll experience the full force of his anger. Get ready for some exciting races against this lovable yet fierce character.

With the introduction of new tracks and characters, the anticipation for even more exciting additions to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe grows.
