The Last of Us Part 3 Leaks Reveal New Characters and Ellie’s Role

Recent leaks suggest fresh additions to The Last of Us Part 3 and Ellie's continued significance in the series.

The Last of Us Part III

Over the weekend, leaks regarding The Last of Us Part 3 surfaced online, courtesy of two reputable tipsters known for their insights into Marvel TV shows and movies. According to these leaks, the highly anticipated sequel will introduce five new characters: Lucas, Mason, Val, Ezra, and Gracie.

These characters are said to form a group of “scavengers” surviving on the outskirts of a post-apocalyptic city, utilizing a Victorian house as their base of operations.

A Glimpse into Their Roles

Leaker DanielRPK provides some intriguing details about the new characters. Lucas is described as an “affable” individual who develops a relationship with another young scavenger and unveils his darker side throughout the story.

Gracie, aged between 18 and 25, may be the young scavenger mentioned. Mason, a former soldier, faces a crucial decision when Val assumes leadership within the group. Lastly, Ezra seems to be an antagonist intent on seizing control of the house from Val.

According to fellow leaker ViewerAnon, Ellie, the beloved protagonist from the previous games, will play an equally significant role in The Last of Us Part 3 as she did in The Last of Us Part 2. However, it remains uncertain whether Abby and Lev, who were introduced in the second installment, will return for the upcoming chapter.

Excitingly, ViewerAnon hints at the commencement of “major filming” for The Last of Us Part 3 as early as this year. While Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann confirmed the existence of a story outline for Part 3 in 2021, no active development had begun at the time. Druckmann emphasized that the team at Naughty Dog is committed to creating a compelling narrative that reflects the series’ core themes of love and humanity.

Alongside The Last of Us Part 3, Naughty Dog is also working on a standalone multiplayer game set in The Last of Us universe. While the studio had promised more information about this “ambitious” project in 2023, development temporarily slowed down due to feedback from Bungie, the acclaimed studio behind Destiny.

Bungie, which has been individually evaluating Sony’s “games as a service” initiatives since its acquisition, expressed concerns about the multiplayer’s long-term player engagement.

As fans eagerly await official announcements, the leaks have sparked excitement and anticipation for the future of The Last of Us series, promising new characters, an engaging story, and the continuation of Ellie’s journey.
