In a thrilling development for fans of Overwatch 2, the upcoming Season 7, titled “Rise of Darkness,” is set to launch on October 10, and it brings with it an exciting crossover with Blizzard’s iconic Diablo IV, just in time for Halloween.
The anticipation for this collaboration is fueled by a tantalizing teaser that showcases what appears to be a Moira skin inspired by Diablo IV’s formidable antagonist, Lilith. Additionally, players can look forward to a spine-chilling iteration of the Blizzard World map and a revamped version of Overwatch’s Halloween PvE event game mode, “Junkenstein’s Revenge.”
This iteration of the mode seems to be set within the eerie confines of the Tristram Cathedral section of the Blizzard theme park-inspired map, complete with Diablo-esque Town Portals that players must confront.
During the Overwatch League 2023 grand finals over the weekend, Blizzard dropped the exciting news that a brand-new map, “Samoa,” will make its debut in Season 7. While the full extent of Season 7’s offerings remains shrouded in mystery, leaks suggest that fans can anticipate a Mythic skin for Hanzo and Halloween-themed skins for Widowmaker and Echo.

Notably, this isn’t the first time that Blizzard’s dark fantasy universe has intersected with the world of Overwatch. The game has previously featured several Diablo-themed skins, such as Demon Hunter Sombra, Butcher Roadhog, and Barbarian Zarya.
Overwatch 2 has also paid homage to other Blizzard franchises, with World of Warcraft-themed skins for Doomfist and Torbjorn, as well as a StarCraft-themed skin for Widowmaker.
Surprisingly, Overwatch 2 is not the sole Activision Blizzard-made first-person shooter to embrace a Diablo crossover. Rumors abound that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will introduce its own Diablo IV crossover later this month. This event is set to bring Lilith and the fallen angel Inarius into the game as playable Operators, complete with their own unique finishing moves.
Fans can look forward to more exciting revelations during BlizzCon 2023, marking the convention’s return as an in-person event for the first time since 2019. Blizzard veteran Chris Metzen, now serving as an executive creative director, will unveil the future of World of Warcraft at the event.
