Terminator Survival Game Hits Steam Early Access in October

The open-world Terminator survival game gets an official title and release window for Steam Early Access.

Terminator: Survivors, an upcoming open-world survival game set in the aftermath of Judgment Day, finally has a release window. Developer Nacon Studio Milan revealed the game is slated to hit Steam Early Access on October 24th.

Terminator: Survivors casts players as survivors in the year 2009, over a decade after Judgment Day saw Skynet unleash nuclear destruction upon humanity in 1997. With civilization in ruins, both rogue machines and fellow humans pose threats to survival.

The game can be played solo or cooperatively. Key elements include base building, scavenging, crafting, and first-person shooter combat against enemies. While killer Terminators will be present, Nacon suggests they will be rare boss-like challenges rather than common enemies.

The timeline places Terminator: Survivors before John Connor establishes the human resistance against Skynet. This creates an intriguing narrative where players initially know little about the war against the machines. The story will see them uncover the truth and ultimately join the fight.

While many licensed games fail to deliver, Terminator: Survivors has potential to succeed in the crowded survival genre. Developer Nacon Studio Milan previously impressed with 2019’s Terminator: Resistance, showing it can create engrossing gameplay within the beloved sci-fi universe.

With deep crafting systems, dynamic human and A.I. threats, and the bleak atmosphere of the Terminator world, Survivors could stand out when it hits Steam Early Access this October. Console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will follow at a later date.
