While the British royals remain entangled in family drama across the pond, Meghan Markle is making lifestyle moves of her own – and rumor has it a new unscripted Netflix series could be part of her next act as an entrepreneur.
On March 14, the Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to tease the launch of her upcoming venture, American Riviera Orchard. A lifestyle brand promising cookware, home goods and edible delicacies, the brief video showcased Meghan arranging flowers, cooking in her Montecito kitchen, and donning an elegant ballgown.
As the home and kitchenware line’s trademark application indicates, offerings may include tableware, cookbooks, jams, oils and more. And according to buzzing reports, Meghan could soon be showcasing those very products on a rumored reality cooking show for Netflix.
The speculation stems from comments made by the streamer’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria at a recent event. Bajaria mentioned Meghan and husband Prince Harry have “a couple of unscripted things” actively in development alongside their previously announced scripted projects.
An unnamed “insider” even told The Daily Mail that “a new cookery show” is meant to coincide with American Riviera Orchard’s launch, claiming it will begin filming in the coming weeks to highlight Meghan’s culinary skills and the brand’s offerings.
If true, such a series would mark a return to Meghan’s pre-royal blogging roots with The Tig, where she once shared musings on food, wellness and lifestyle topics she’s now seemingly keen to reignite commercially alongside Prince Harry’s $100 million Netflix deal.
Of course, any potential reality foray remains unofficial until confirmed by Meghan, Harry or Netflix itself. But for the former Suits actress, the rumor mill’s latest batch of intrigue could foreshadow her joining the very world of unscripted entertainment she and Harry have previously spoken out against.
Representatives for Meghan Markle declined to comment on the ongoing speculation. Netflix had not responded to an inquiry by time of publishing.
