The First Omen Trailer Delivers Vintage Horror Thrills

New Promo for Omen Prequel Embraces Grainy, Grindhouse Aesthetic of 1970s Horror.

The latest trailer for the upcoming horror prequel The First Omen is a delightful throwback to the golden era of 1970s horror cinema. Embracing the grainy, grindhouse aesthetic that defined many classic horror films of that decade, the trailer transports viewers to a time when terror lurked in the shadows, and suspense was masterfully built through atmospheric dread.

Released by 20th Century Studios, the retro-styled promo perfectly captures the vintage vibe of the original 1976 film The Omen, which the prequel is based on. From the grainy film stock to the ominous voiceover narration, every element of the trailer oozes with nostalgic charm and an unsettling sense of foreboding.

The trailer opens with a young American woman, Margaret (Nell Tiger Free), arriving in Rome to begin her service to the church. However, her journey quickly takes a sinister turn as she encounters a “darkness” that causes her to question her faith and uncover a terrifying conspiracy surrounding an “evil incarnate.”

Glimpses of horrifying events and harrowing screams punctuate the trailer, building anticipation for the scares that await. The use of vintage film techniques, such as desaturated colors and scratchy film textures, adds an authentic touch, making the trailer feel like a relic from a bygone era.

Nell Tiger Free, who stars as Margaret, has already teased that the trailer’s unsettling tone is just the tip of the iceberg. In a recent interview with SFX magazine, she playfully warned viewers, “I have a tendency to trawl YouTube comments when it’s four in the morning and I can’t go to sleep. I’m enjoying looking at everybody’s theories [about the trailer] because everybody’s wrong, baby! Everybody is wrong! I hope we scare the shit out of people.”
