thatgamecompany Celebrates Cross-Platform Release with Special Events and Rewards.

The acclaimed indie adventure game Sky: Children of the Light is spreading its wings to a new platform. Developer thatgamecompany has announced that the free-to-play open-world title will launch in Early Access on Steam for PC on April 10th, marking a major milestone for the beloved experience.

While Sky: Children of the Light has already amassed a passionate community across iOS, Android, Switch, and PlayStation platforms since its initial 2019 mobile release, the Steam Early Access period will allow thatgamecompany to implement vital PC-specific features and optimizations. This includes integrating Steam friends, achievements, remote play support, as well as enhancements to graphics with HDR and VRR compatibility.

“We’re bringing Sky to Early Access on Steam so that we can implement all the refinements that will make the PC experience shine,” stated the development team. “It’s a big moment, so there’s going to be a little something for every platform.”

To commemorate the cross-platform celebration, thatgamecompany has prepared a series of special events and rewards for Sky players across all versions. PC and Steam Deck players can claim a unique Companion Cube prop inspired by the Portal franchise by spending 50 Candles in the in-game Aviary event shop.

Additionally, the long-awaited “Journey Pack” cosmetic set, formerly a PlayStation exclusive, will become available for purchase across all platforms for $24.99. This pack includes a cape, hood, and mask modeled after the iconic traveler from thatgamecompany’s celebrated adventure Journey.

From April 10th to April 16th, players can also take advantage of a “Double Hearts” event, where any Heart gifts sent to friends will be automatically doubled. Meanwhile, the game’s realms will be illuminated by Treasure Candles, with 20 bonus light sources appearing daily across all levels.

Rounding out the festivities is the highly-anticipated return of the Dancing Performer Traveling Spirit, the winner of last year’s community vote. This whimsical spirit will visit all versions of Sky over the weekend of April 25th, bringing unique outfit items and dance moves to teach players.

As thatgamecompany prepares for Sky’s PC voyage, co-founder Jenova Chen expressed excitement about the game’s potential to foster meaningful connections within the expanded player base.

“I’m pretty confident to say Sky is the world’s most socially engaging and emotional MMO,” Chen stated. “We designed our game for MMO players…and we did a lot of very interesting design to create a very non-toxic culture. You can almost say it’s wholesome.”

With cross-platform play, players can seamlessly join friends across PC, mobile, and console versions, allowing the global community to soar together like never before. Sky: Children of the Light is truly taking flight, promising an unforgettable journey of wonder, companionship, and inclusive adventures.
