For years, Funko’s wildly popular Pop! vinyl figurines have allowed fans to collect stylized versions of their favorite movie, TV, comic characters and more. But now the iconic big-headed toys are stepping off the shelf and into their own video game adventure with the newly announced Funko Fusion.

Revealed today alongside an eye-catching trailer, Funko Fusion is shaping up to be a horror aficionado’s co-op gaming dream come true. The upcoming action-adventure title from new studio 10:10 Games is a veritable mashup of beloved properties from across NBCUniversal’s vast library of franchises.

Prominent among the revealed roster are numerous iconic horror brands. The trailer showcases Funko-fied versions of John Carpenter’s The Thing intermixed with chomping Jaws sharks, rampaging Jurassic World dinosaurs, the killer doll Chucky, and even monstrous entities from Jordan Peele’s recent sci-fi thriller Nope.

Other confirmed horror franchises being represented include M3GAN, Shaun of the Dead, and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Classic blockbuster series like Jurassic Park and Back to the Future will make appearances as well.

In total, over 20 franchises spanning generations of pop culture will collide within Funko Fusion’s irreverent single-player and 4-player online co-op adventures. Players will explore distinct worlds themed after each of the included properties, with over 60 playable characters promised at launch – each with unique weapons and abilities.

“Funko Fusion is the ultimate celebration of fandom, blending beloved movie and TV properties for every generation with humor, fun mechanics, and fast-paced high-adrenaline action,” said 10:10 Games co-founder Arthur Parsons.

Funko Fusion

While little is known yet about how the game’s narrative will tie all these disparate fictional universes together, the premise allows for all manner of imaginative crossover scenarios. One can’t help but dream of battling xenomorphic creatures from The Thing as Saturday Morning heroes like He-Man.

Funko Fusion seems primed to tap directly into that sense of giddy pleasure fans derive from mashup crossovers and exploring alternate “What If?” scenarios between their favorite franchises.

The game is slated for launch on September 13, 2024, across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. Those who pre-order will receive a bonus pack of playable characters from The Walking Dead comics at no extra cost.

For many Funko collectors and fans of delightfully meta mashups, Funko Fusion may represent the perfect indulgence – allowing them to live out their most fanciful showdowns and team-ups between an array of iconic big and small screen characters. The kawaii-styled action kicks off in just a few months.
