Gigantic first took the world by storm in 2017 with its innovative blend of MOBA strategy and hero shooter action. Players selected from a diverse cast of characters, each with unique abilities, then joined forces online in dynamic 5v5 arena clashes. However, competition proved fierce and the small developer team struggled to keep up. After only a year, the original game’s servers closed for good.

Now a new company has risen to the challenge of reviving this fan favorite. Gigantic: Rampage Edition reunited friends from across various platforms, reopening the genre-bending world to cooperative battles once more. All your favorite heroes returned as well, battling as before to support their titanic Guardian in defeating the enemy’s. The fast-paced action and customized character building drew players back into passionate skirmishes over control of the maps.

With the new release come additional modes, characters and quality of life changes. But most exciting of all was seeing the lively community form again around their rediscovered love of this unique blend. Old rivals reunited and new allegiances emerged, working together precisely as before yet with a renewed vigor and understanding born of absence. Gigantic lives up to its name once more, its colossal heart now beating strong with the will to fight of all who have returned to its shores once more.

Heroes and Guardians

In Gigantic: Rampage Edition, you’ll find colossal Guardians locked in an epic battle – but their fate rests in your hands. As with any MOBA, you first get to choose from a roster of diverse heroes each with their own abilities and playstyles. Beyond standard roles like damage or support, several allow for more versatility too.

A key part of strategy lies in customizing your arsenal. Every ability can be tweaked to focus on different strengths, transitioning your hero in novel ways. Need crowd control? Focus healing? Deal damage? It’s yours to decide. Your choices dynamically impact how battles unfold.

Players join teams of five to compete through objectives on distinctive maps. There, massive Guardians await as you charge their power by gathering orbs from nodes on the field. Successfully fill the gauge and your own Guardian descends, vulnerable to attacks – if you can defend it, victory awaits!

Things move at a breakneck pace too. In the new “Rush” mode, teams leap straight to high levels for all-out mayhem. Maximize your build and ensure teamwork to quickly overwhelm opponents. Timing and coordination prove everything against skilled foes.

Combat plays out across the Third-person perspective, with mobility a key factor. Heroes scale environments to rain abilities on enemies, granting benefits of high ground. Working together to seize opportunities or thwart rivals makes for thrilling, strategic showdowns.

So take up arms as your favorite hero and help tip the scales in epic Guardian battles. With expressive personalities, depth from customization and fast-paced action, Gigantic: Rampage Edition offers memorable multiplayer moments for all players. The Guardians’ fates hang in the balance – will you be the hero to change them?

Tales of the Guardians

In Gigantic: Rampage Edition, the story centers around two behemoth beings – Aurion and Devaedra, Guardians who represent opposing factions in an eternal battle. Leading their armies of heroes, these towering titans clash across diverse landscapes, fighting to assert dominance.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition Review

While lore on each Guardian and their motivations remains vague, their massive size and power is evident. Towering above even the tallest buildings, Aurion and Devaedra perpetually trade earthshaking blows that could level entire cities. Between these living mountains, the outcomes of their battles will shape the world for ages to come.

As a player, you join the conflict by choosing a hero from one faction to aid their Guardian’s cause. However, beyond establishing two warring sides, the game’s current narrative tells little of how this epic feud began or where it might lead. For now, players can only experience these colossal combatants through the heated skirmishes waged across notable maps.

Still, room remains for future expansion if Gigantic: Rampage Edition maintains a dedicated player base. With time, Abstraction could flesh out each Guardians’ past and motivations and introduce new lore through additional heroes. Perhaps future story arcs may even see allegiances shift or secrets that change perspectives on the ancient conflict. Only continued support will show if the full scope of this world will ever be uncovered.

Titans and Tinkerers

Within the vibrant world of Gigantic: Rampage Edition lives an eclectic group of heroes, each with their own unique flair and function. Whether brawling on the frontlines or supporting from the shadows, players can select from over two dozen heroes to suit different playstyles.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition Review

While the towering titans Aurion and Devaedra wage their epic feud across the realm, it’s the heroes who truly bring the battle to life. From hulking behemoths to agile tricksters, no two heroes feel quite the same. Customizable skill trees only boost possibilities further, letting support characters morph into destructive juggernauts or tanks transform temporary defense into permanent utility.

Hero personalities shine through vibrant designs as well. A scuttling insect Zandora quips and zips, harassing foes with swarms and stingers. Gracht thunders across the field within his rolling foundry, hurling molten missiles with relentless momentum. Whether cracking jokes or reciting poems, every hero bursts with character you want to see succeed.

Fluid animations bring each movement to life, from nimble dwarven machinations to the fluid grace of amphibious merfolk. Heroes flow seamlessly between roles as needed, adapting to allies’ ebbs and flows within heated clashes. Support specialists can harden defenses or join the frontline fray, opening new strategic layers beyond rigid stereotypes.

With such a diverse cast of quirky characters, players bond with at least one to suit playing style and spirit. Customizing each hero through skill trees only deepens potential, letting personalities truly blossom on the battlefield. Titans may command the setting, but within Gigantic: Rampage Edition, it’s these heroes who steal the show and shine as the true stars of the story.

Dynamic Designs of the Fey

Within the vivid realm of Gigantic: Rampage Edition, none shine so bright as its menagerie of mighty heroes. While some claim visuals show age, there’s no denying the creative flair on display. A pastel palette embraces whimsy while intricate details decorate each champion. Most wondrous of all are the animated feats that bring every brawler to boisterous life.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition Review

Movements flow with fluid grace, whether launching spinning attacks or scuttling hastily across battlefields. Watch Gracht roll forth, guns ablaze within sprockets and pistons perpetually in motion. Or behold Zandora dance amid her swarms, acrobatic agility ever avoiding harm’s way. Even lumbering behemoths display deftness, packing mighty punches with impressive prowess.

Of course, none captivate quite like the fair folk that call this realm home. Slithering serpents and amphibious figures coordinate limbs with mesmerizing synchronicity. Their designs depict fanciful nature in all its diversity, bringing novel non-humans into the fold. Perhaps most lovely to behold is a certain insectoid clad in verdant vestments, carrying fluttering fauna fans to guide her magic.

While some feel features could use freshening, what truly deserves praise are characters themselves – their quirks, tribes and tricks that populate this playland. Animation steals the show and sparks spirits, outshining any need for graphical galavanting. Here personalities powerfully perform, carving their own charms into memories to last lifetimes. In the end, isn’t that all one can ask for in a world so vivid and delightful to freely roam?

Heroes Unleashed

Within Gigantic: Rampage Edition’s vibrant battlefields, mechanics mesh together marvellously. A familiar formula fans know all too well blends with refreshing novelty at every turn. MOBA structures entwine expertly with hero shooter dynamics, crafting chaos unlike any other.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition Review

Teams tussle tirelessly over bountiful terrain, seeking power orbs from captured claim points. But these orbs empower more than numeric edges – they awake towering guardians yearning for frays. Once charged to the brim, these behemoths brawl endlessly as warriors whittle down health. Victory smiles upon the squad shattering their foe first.

Across various maps, the mayhem maintains marvels. Verticality spices surprises with players scaling cliffs. Hidden nooks nestle nourishing health globes for the harmed. Yet beneath lively landscapes lay layers more profound…

Diverse dancers deliver distinguished flair. Unique heroes heed solely to your helm, harbouring distinct dodgeballing destinies. With a rainbow roster to choose from, newfound favourites feel fated. My heart remains with a revered ranged ruffian, raining ruin on rivals with rapier rifle fire.

Build customisation broadens possibilities too. Swaying skills down shifting paths bestows brand new bombarding. Support shifts to slaughter with a single selection. Players possess precision to perfect their perfect prestidigitation.

Alas, amidst the magnificence marred some murky misconduct. Fragile foundations fell to frequent faults, foiling fun’s start. Matches vanishing midway dampened debut delights. Bugs disrupting the chaos chipped enjoyment’s edge. Issues persist post-purchase for patrons, though future fixing seems forthcoming.

Yet beyond the bothers, battles still enthral. Gigantic: Rampage Edition earns eager anticipation for when servers stand strong. With potential this potent, triumph seems inevitable – the true titan time will tell.

Returning to a Beloved World

Gigantic: Rampage Edition offers fans a trip down memory lane, revisiting a vibrant multiplayer realm once thought lost. Its exciting cast of heroes and fast-paced battlefields elicit nostalgia for the original’s heyday. Yet despite passionate devotion from die-hard backers, this re-release feels less a resurgence and more a recycled product.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition Review

By failing to truly modernize either visuals or technical aspects, developers missed a chance to revitalize the franchise for new audiences. While preserving core gameplay merits praise, stagnating other elements limits mass appeal. Narrowing vision overlooks opportunities to evolve the experience through creative reinvention.

True devotees longing for those frenetic battles of yore will find fun, though frustration from bugs mars the magic. But waiting allows hope developers remedy stability issues. If fixed, this rekindled realm could offer devoted fans joyous journeys down memory lane.

For all others, or those new to the arena, higher prices seem hard to justify for a more-of-the-same package. More time improving what existed may have strengthened this striking concept for the future. As it stands, only die-hard loyalty or deep discounts could motivate diving in.

Yet potential remains if commitment to support endures. With effort elevating technical and visual qualities, perhaps this creative universe could yet attract wider crowds. For now, reminiscing must suffice. But if care and creativity continue advancing the adventure, joyous days might live once more within this extraordinary world.

The Review

Gigantic: Rampage Edition

6 Score

While Gigantic's blend of MOBA and hero shooter gameplay retains appeal for fans of the original, this "definitive edition" feels more like a remaster missed opportunity than a true revival. Without significant improvements to technical performance, visuals or new modes/content, its $20 price tag provides little additional value for returning players or incentive for newcomers. The core combat retains its frenetic fun, and devoted fans will find enjoyment amidst the memories. However, unaddressed issues and a lack of modernization relative to its price point keep this from achieving its potential for broader appeal. Here's hoping further support can evolve what remains a uniquely creative multiplayer concept.

PROS

  • Unique blending of MOBA and hero shooter genres retains appeal
  • Distinctive heroes and varied playstyles offer strategic depth
  • Fast-paced combat and objectives maintain thrill of original gameplay

CONS

  • Dated visuals and lack of technical/performance upgrades
  • Issues like server instability hamper enjoyment
  • Limited new content makes premium price tough to justify
  • Narrow focus on core gameplay risks seeming stale to new players
