Ubisoft Clarifies Iconic Character's Availability After Initial Confusion

Star Wars Outlaws

In a move to quell concerns among Star Wars fans, Ubisoft has provided a clarification regarding the availability of the iconic Jabba the Hutt character in the upcoming open-world game Star Wars Outlaws.

Following the initial reveal of the game’s pre-order details, which included a “Jabba’s Gambit” mission as part of the Season Pass exclusive to the Gold and Ultimate Editions, there was a mild outcry from the community. Fans feared that this could mean Jabba the Hutt, a beloved Star Wars character, would be locked behind a paywall.

However, Ubisoft has now stepped in to assure players that Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel will be featured as “one of the main syndicates” in Star Wars Outlaws, accessible to all players regardless of the edition they purchase.

“To clarify, Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel are one of the main syndicates in Star Wars Outlaws and will be part of the experience for everyone who purchases the game, regardless of edition,” a Ubisoft spokesperson stated.

The company further explained that the “Jabba’s Gambit” mission is an optional, additional content offering that will be available to those who purchase the Season Pass or the Gold/Ultimate Editions of the game. This means that players will be able to encounter and interact with Jabba the Hutt as part of the core Star Wars Outlaws experience, without the need for any special edition or additional purchase.

Developed by Massive Entertainment, the team behind The Division franchise, Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on August 30th, 2024. The open-world game follows the story of Kay Vess, a rogue character on the run from a notorious crimelord, Sliro. While the game will not feature Jedi or Sith powers, it promises a rich Star Wars experience with a variety of planets, NPCs, and iconic characters like Jabba the Hutt.
