Brace yourselves, Mortal Kombat fans, as Homelander, the twisted and controversial antihero from the hit series The Boys, is set to join the roster of Mortal Kombat 1 next week. In a brutal gameplay trailer, NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first glimpse of Homelander’s savage fighting style, showcasing his signature moves and gory finishers.
As revealed by Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon on social media, Homelander will be available for early access players with the Kombat Pack DLC starting June 4th. The rest of the player base will have the opportunity to wield Homelander’s terrifying powers from June 11th.
The gameplay trailer leaves no doubt about Homelander’s ruthless nature, as he unleashes a devastating array of attacks on his opponents. Fans of The Boys will instantly recognize his iconic ear-clapping move, which sends shockwaves rippling through the air, and his powerful eye lasers, capable of bisecting even the mightiest of foes.
But Homelander’s brutality doesn’t stop there. In one particularly gruesome sequence, he casually hurls Liu Kang through the engine of a commercial airliner, echoing the show’s depiction of his callous disregard for human life. His finishers, or “Fatalities” in Mortal Kombat parlance, are no less shocking, with Homelander ripping his opponents in half with his bare hands.
While Homelander’s inclusion in Mortal Kombat 1 may raise some eyebrows due to his controversial nature, his addition to the roster is sure to excite fans of both franchises. His unique abilities, including hovering and flying during combat, promise to bring a fresh dynamic to the game’s already diverse roster of fighters.

Alongside Homelander, the Kombat Pack DLC will also introduce Ferra, a fan-favorite character from Mortal Kombat X, as a “Kameo Fighter.” Ferra will serve as a spritely combat partner, complementing Homelander’s raw power with her agility and ability to be thrown as a projectile.
