LEGO and Horizon Franchise Rumored for New Gaming Collaboration

Leaks hint at an announcement "on the horizon" for a potential LEGO video game set in Guerrilla Games' post-apocalyptic world.

A surprise new rumor has emerged suggesting that the hit PlayStation franchise Horizon may be partnering with LEGO for an as-yet unspecified gaming project or product line.

The speculation began with industry insider Tom Henderson cryptically tweeting “An announcement is on the horizon” alongside explicit mentions of a “LEGO Horizon trailer” being ready to go live. Another leaker, Kurakasis, had previously hinted that Sony was working on some sort of collaboration with LEGO involving a “well-known IP.”

While the details remain vague, the timing of the rumors suggests any official LEGO x Horizon unveiling could potentially come as part of Sony’s rumored PlayStation Showcase event expected later this month.

If legitimate, this would mark LEGO’s first full foray into gaming based on a first-party PlayStation property. The Danish toy company has previously collaborated on titles featuring major franchises like Marvel, Harry Potter and Star Wars, but never a Sony-owned IP.

Sony is preparing something in cooperation with LEGO, it is related to their well-known IP, the announcement is expected soon

I'm trying to find more details

— Kurakasis (@Kurakasis) May 11, 2024

So just what could this LEGO Horizon project entail? One possibility is a brand new LEGO video game adaptation set in the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon, perhaps even following the adventures of heroine Aloy. This would be a first for Guerrilla Games’ acclaimed action RPG series.

However, the partnership could also simply be for a new line of LEGO playsets or collectible models inspired by Horizon’s unique blend of primitive and futuristic technology. LEGO has released Horizon merchandise before, including a wildly popular posable Tallneck figure that sold out worldwide in 2022.

With Horizon Zero Dawn having just left PlayStation Plus this month and strong rumors of Horizon 3 being prioritized by Sony, the timing does seem ripe for some sort of major new announcement or tie-in for the franchise.

I'm not particularly fond of the "I know something, and you don't" obligatory vague insider BS. But from what I know, there's a LEGO Horizon trailer that's ready to go.

It also suggests that the rumors of a showcase soon are accurate.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on the future of Guerrilla’s fan-favorite series following 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West for PS5 and PS4. The long-rumored PSVR2 spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain is also expected to be a major launch title for Sony’s next-gen VR headset.

Whether it’s a full-blown new LEGO video game, a Wave of new physical models, or something else entirely, any official Horizon collaboration would likely spark immense interest from both PlayStation loyalists and LEGO collectors alike. With a high-profile PlayStation event seemingly on the horizon, all will likely be revealed about this unexpected gaming crossover very soon.
