Fresh off his acclaimed Netflix role in “Heartstopper,” Joe Locke has joined Kathryn Hahn in the mysterious new Disney+ series “Agatha All Along.” Locke will play an undisclosed character shrouded in secrecy throughout production, but he shed some light on taking on the dream opportunity of playing a familiar – or assistant – to Hahn’s scene-stealing witch Agatha Harkness.

Locke revealed his character is simply known as “Teen” in the script, but as a big fan of witchcraft himself, working under Hahn’s tutelage is a dream come true. “He’s fanboy-esque, and in his element,” Locke said of the character. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer added that it’s this mysterious teen’s idea to embark on the legendary “Witches’ Road” journey in order to help Agatha regain her powers stolen at the end of WandaVision. But to complete the road, they’ll need to assemble an unlikely coven.

The series is taking inspiration from classic adventure films like “The Goonies,” according to Locke and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige himself. While promising plenty of supernatural fun and mystery, the show will also take on some darker dramatic tones along the way. Brad Winderbaum, head of television at Marvel, teased a brand of scary unique to the MCU.

Rounding out the ensemble cast are Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn and others. Locke added that not even the actors knew each other’s true roles, heightening the secrecy and surprise for viewers. As the series premiere date in September approaches, fans can expect an intriguing blend of MCU lore and spellbinding new characters led by the acclaimed Hahn and breakout Locke. More details are sure to be revealed about the mysterious journey that lies ahead on the “Witches’ Road.”
