Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman movie, just announced some cool news at Comic-Con! He said that they’re starting to film the next Batman movie, called The Batman Part II, really soon in early 2025. It’s planned to come out in theaters on October 2nd, 2026.
Even better, Robert Pattinson is coming back to play Batman! And Colin Farrell will return too – he played the Penguin in the first movie. They also revealed some details about what might happen in the new movie.
Before the Batman sequel comes out, HBO Max will air a new TV show just about the Penguin character. It’s called The Penguin and will premiere on September 19th, 2024. The show will take place after the first movie ended and will explain what the Penguin has been up to since then in Gotham City.
The director is keeping most of the actual plot of The Batman Part II secret for now. But with the Penguin returning, it seems the new movie will continue focusing on the bad guys and criminals of Gotham. Fans are thinking it might include other famous Batman villains too, like Two-Face.
Colin Farrell coming back has everyone excited to see more of his Penguin character. He said the TV show will be really dark and violent, and show the Penguin fighting hard to become the most powerful crime boss in Gotham.
This sequel is an important part of the new plan for all the DC superhero movies and shows. Now everything will connect together under one big DC Studios name. While we wait for the movie in 2026, the Penguin TV show in 2024 will bridge the gap and develop that character even more before he returns to the big screen. With over four years until the sequel, fans have high hopes that Matt Reeves can make another great Batman movie for us to enjoy!
