Wesley Snipes’ surprise appearance as Blade in “Deadpool & Wolverine” has got people talking again about what’s next for the character. His cameo, which many saw as one of the best parts, comes while the planned new Blade movie with Mahershala Ali is having some problems.
Snipes was awesome as Blade back in the original trilogy from 1998 to 2004. Seeing him again in the new movie reminded everyone how cool he was in the role. His part didn’t take away from the story – it actually made it better.
The funny thing is, Snipes rocking it as Blade shows how rocky things have been for the new Blade movie. They announced it in 2019 with Ali playing Blade, but it’s been hit with delay after delay. They’ve changed directors a few times and rewritten the script too. Just last month, they lost their director Yann Demange with no new one yet.
In a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, Snipes talked about the reboot struggles. He said he’s behind Ali 100% and thinks “You need just the right mix to nail Blade, good luck!”
Some people think Snipes’ dope cameo has ideas brewing. Maybe he could play a mentor role, or they could do a story where we see both versions of Blade.
Snipes’ return also reunited him with Ryan Reynolds from “Blade: Trinity.” They had beef before but Snipes said working with Reynolds this time was fun, and Reynolds is hilarious.
As Marvel figures out how to bring Blade back right, Snipes’ part is a reminder of how much people dig the character. We’ll see if it sways what they do with the reboot at all. For now, you can catch “Deadpool & Wolverine” in theaters with Snipes, and the new Blade movie keeps reworking its script.
