Have you started watching the new Apple TV+ show Lady in the Lake yet? I just finished the first two episodes and am totally hooked! It takes place in 1960s Baltimore and follows a woman named Maddie as she tries to solve some really mysterious murders.

The very first scene starts with a dead body floating in a lake – a black woman named Cleo. They make it seem like this guy Reggie might have done it, since he looks a lot like the shadowy figure dumping her in the water. But they don’t really give it away so we’ll have to keep watching to find out for sure!

Then another girl named Tessie goes missing at the Thanksgiving Day parade. Maddie gets super determined to find out what happened to her. In episode 2 we see Tessie’s frozen body is also pulled out of a lake. Yikes! It seems like Reggie might be involved again but they leave that part unclear too.

A few other people look suspicious. There’s the guy who owns a fish store that Tessie went to right before she disappeared. His mom tells the police she saw a man with a black eye there, but says he was black and the store owner is white. Also Reggie is acting kind of shifty after they find Tessie. So they’re giving us a bunch of possible suspects to think about.

The show is changing some things from the original book it’s based on. In the book, different people were convicted for the crimes. And Cleo’s death happened in a more complicated way. I’m interested to see how the TV version tweaks the story.

New episodes come out every Thursday until the end of this month. I recommend giving it a watch so you can try guessing along with me about who really committed these murders! Let me know if you start watching and what you think of the show.
