Ryan Reynolds celebrated Hugh Jackman’s 56th birthday on social media by sharing private moments from their hit film “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Reynolds posted photos on Instagram that gave fans a rare look at the friendship between the two stars.

The pictures show Reynolds and Jackman chatting, embracing, and posing with director Shawn Levy on set. Reynolds included jokes referencing a line from their movie where Deadpool says he hopes Disney makes Jackman play Wolverine “til he’s 90.” Reynolds wrote he hopes they get to work together that long, showing the long partnership between the actors.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” brought the Marvel characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it was released in July 2024. The film has earned over $1.31 billion worldwide, making it the highest grossing film of 2024. It also set records when it was released digitally on October 1, becoming the best-selling R-rated film in its first week by surpassing “John Wick: Chapter 4.”

Reynolds continued the birthday tribute on his Instagram Story by quoting Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones, saying “It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage.” He jokingly added that the birthday wish was for “the one and only Greatest Showman,” acknowledging Jackman’s role in the musical of the same name.

Coinciding with the birthday celebration is news of Jackman’s upcoming New York concert series called “Hugh Jackman Live From New York With Love” starting in January 2025. As for future films, Reynolds and director Levy have said “Deadpool & Wolverine” was a standalone but left fans hopeful about potential reunions due to the stars’ chemistry. The birthday messages from Reynolds showcase not only the professional success but also the deep friendship between the two actors.
