The family comedy “A Sudden Case of Christmas” is making waves in the international film industry. The movie will premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, where it has already signed multiple distribution agreements.
The film, starring Danny DeVito, Lucy DeVito, Andie MacDowell, and Wilmer Valderrama, tells the heartwarming story of an American family spending one final Christmas together in Italy in August, right before the parents separate. This unique concept has piqued the interest of distributors worldwide.
VMI Worldwide, the film’s sales representative, has successfully established several distribution agreements. The film will be released by Phoenicia Pictures in the Middle East, Signature in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Lusomundo in Portugal, and Century Carnival Movie for Chinese airlines. Other distributors are PictureWorks for India and Pakistan, Prorom Media-Trade for Eastern Europe (except Poland), Spentzos for Greece and Cyprus, and VolgaFilm for the Baltics and CIS.
Ameer Fawaz, CEO of Phoenicia, expressed enthusiasm for the film’s festival placement. “Showing a Christmas film at a festival in Saudi Arabia is a bold choice, but that’s what makes our industry and this festival unique,” said the executive director. The film will be released theatrically on December 19, followed by a digital launch.
Fawaz stressed the film’s broad appeal: “I’m sure about the wide release and how audiences will react to it. It’s a good family film that everyone will appreciate. Andie MacDowell and Danny DeVito deliver great performances.
Julie Paquet, VP of sales at VMI Worldwide, stated that the film’s positive story and holiday themes resonated with purchasers.
