Netflix’s first-ever live talk show, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, will debut on March 12 with an eclectic lineup of guests. Michael Keaton, Joan Baez, and Fred Armisen will join Mulaney for the premiere, with Cypress Hill providing musical entertainment. Personal finance columnist Jessica Roy is also set to appear on the debut episode, which will air live at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
The series, which will run for 12 weeks through May 28, follows Mulaney’s previous Netflix experiment, John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA, a six-episode special that aired during the 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Festival. That series featured a mix of comedians, musicians, and subject matter experts, including Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Pete Davidson, and St. Vincent.
Mulaney teased details of the show during Netflix’s January Next on Netflix event, emphasizing its unpredictable nature. “I think that this show will be something that people will want to tune into live,” he said. “We will have a host in a suit taking calls from viewers. It’s Netflix’s commitment to embracing the 20th century. There is absolutely nothing new about what I’m doing but, by taking a lot of elements other people have already done and doing them out of order, it feels new and that’s what’s important.”
Comedian Richard Kind will serve as the show’s announcer. Mulaney has also hinted at potential future guests, joking that the series could feature figures as varied as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nikki Glaser, and a family therapist. He previously expressed interest in booking punk band Mannequin Pussy, though their participation remains unconfirmed.
With Everybody’s Live, Mulaney expands his already significant reach in Hollywood. Known for his work as a writer on Saturday Night Live and his collaborations with comedians like Nick Kroll, he has built a reputation for bringing together unexpected combinations of guests. The flexibility of the live format allows for spontaneity, and with a second season already confirmed, Mulaney has plenty of opportunities to surprise audiences.
