The Chicken Sisters has been renewed for a second season by Hallmark Channel, following its debut on Hallmark+ in 2024. Production on the sophomore season has begun in Vancouver, with new episodes expected to air later this year on Hallmark Channel. These episodes will still be available for streaming the following day on Hallmark+.

Based on K.J. Dell’Antonia’s novel, The Chicken Sisters explores the rivalry between two family-owned chicken restaurants in the small town of Merinac. The series centers on Amanda (Schuyler Fisk), Mae (Genevieve Angelson), Nancy (Lea Thompson), and Gus (Wendie Malick), who are caught in the midst of a multi-generational family feud. Season 2 will continue this storyline, with Amanda and Mae working to end the feud while Frank Jr. (James Kot) opens a competing restaurant down the street.

David James Elliott, known for his role in JAG, will join the cast in a recurring role. His character, who has ties to Gus’s past, will bring additional tension and intrigue to the plot. Elliott’s arrival is expected to shake up the established dynamics of the show’s characters and their relationships.

Erin Gibson, previously a writer for Throwing Shade, has been promoted to showrunner and executive producer for the new season. She takes over from Annie Mebane, who developed the series. Gibson’s leadership signals a shift in the creative direction of the show, with high expectations for the upcoming season.

Season 1 wrapped in October 2024, and the episodes are now airing on Hallmark Channel on Sundays at 8/7c, with the final episode scheduled for May 18. The first season’s success on Hallmark+ has paved the way for a broader audience as the series continues its growth on cable.
