Tyler Perry’s television franchise continues to grow with Divorced Sistas, a new scripted drama scheduled to premiere June 9 on BET and June 10 on BET+. The series marks the second offshoot from Perry’s Sistas and is the first original production launched under his renewed content agreement with BET Media Group.
The new show centers on five women—Rasheda, Geneva, Naomi, Tiffany, and Bridgette—who remain closely connected while each faces personal and relational change following divorce. Their friendship acts as a foundation, but also becomes a source of tension as deeper personal truths come to light. The series places equal focus on romantic fallout, the pressures of dating, and the emotional labor required to rebuild identity in the aftermath of marital separation.
LeToya Luckett leads the ensemble as one of the five core characters. She is joined by Khadeen Indréa, Porscha Coleman, Briana Price, Jennifer Sears, RonReaco Lee, DeVon Franklin, Donovan Christie Jr., and Robert Christopher Riley. Each actor plays a central role in portraying lives in flux, drawing out intersecting themes of trust, personal accountability, and emotional support among women with shared histories.
BET plans to debut the series immediately following the 2025 BET Awards, using the network’s biggest broadcast event as a springboard for the new title. According to BET+, the series will be available for streaming starting the following day. The launch timing signals a deliberate strategy to draw viewers already engaged with Perry’s existing television properties and the channel’s broader scripted lineup.
“Divorced Sistas is a story of resilience and the power of female friendship,” Perry said through an official statement. “It is my hope that audiences will fall in love with these dynamic characters, and that they will be able to explore their own personal truths about healing and love in the process.”
The new drama follows Zatima, the first Sistas spinoff, which began in 2022. With Divorced Sistas, Perry shifts the focus to post-marital relationships and group dynamics tested by life transitions. While Sistas centered on romantic relationships and career ambitions, this newest series introduces different stakes: emotional maturity, forgiveness, and the private negotiations women make with themselves and each other while facing social expectations and personal loss.
Tyler Perry Studios remains the production engine behind the project, with Perry serving as creator, writer, director, and executive producer. The creative team has maintained continuity across the Sistas universe, while building new thematic directions that reflect shifting social concerns. Through Divorced Sistas, Perry deepens his portrayal of women’s experiences across different phases of adulthood, continuing his long-standing focus on relationship-driven storytelling.
The cast represents a mix of returning collaborators and new additions. Luckett, known for her work on Greenleaf, anchors the ensemble. Khadeen Indréa, Porscha Coleman, and Briana Price bring additional experience from television dramas and comedies. Supporting cast members such as RonReaco Lee and DeVon Franklin round out the story with performances that reflect the broader lives and conflicts surrounding the five central women.
The show arrives during a year of renewed investment in Perry’s serialized content by BET+, reinforcing the platform’s reliance on high-engagement, character-driven programming. By introducing Divorced Sistas during its 45th year, BET places the series at the center of its anniversary celebrations, underlining the continuing impact of Perry’s long-standing creative partnership with the network.
