Sony announced PlayStation Stars, a new loyalty program designed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 console owners, where players can earn rewards for completing “various campaigns and activities.”

This initiative is set to launch later this year – there is no specific date given, although testing is reportedly currently underway. All interested users would be able to join for free to start collecting points.

As an example, a simple “monthly” campaign is given, all you just need to do is to log in and activate a title. Also there will be more complex ideas, such as tournaments, bonuses for certain achievements or even an award for the first person to earn a platinum trophy in a new production.

The collected resources will be spent in a special rewards catalog, which includes PSN account recharges or other “selected products from the PlayStation Store.” Subscribers of PS Plus will earn additional points, given for purchases in the PS Store.

Together with PlayStation Stars, Sony will also introduce a new type of reward in the form of virtual collector’s items. They will be diverse objects – a digital figurine of a popular character was given as an example.
